Back after a long break…

After a long time of not posting any content, I decided I would try to attack this thing again. Life has been crazy this past several months but it finally seems to be regaining some structure, thankfully. :) Pictures!Happy Sunset

Go Braves!

Over the past month I have been to every home game the Braves have played. I’ve watched the game from just about everywhere in the stadium and even been down on the field during their pre game practice. Did I mention I’m getting paid for this? haha This is pretty interesting considering that up until landing this job I could have cared less about the Braves or baseball in general. I think I’m becoming a fan.

Well, it seems that we have a chance at getting into the playoffs this year and with a little magic, the World Series. This would be an incredible experience for me if they do. It basically gives me access to every home game, including the World Series, if we make it that far. Of course, I’ll be working… but I manage to catch a good bit of the action as I’m climbing around from section to section taking pictures and watching out for balls and bats that sometimes nearly miss knocking me out.

Today is the final game of the Marlins/Braves series and I’m seriously hoping that we can continue on with our  wins. That being said, it’s about time for me to find something to eat and head back up to the ball park.

Go Braves!

Medicinal history

I shot this up in Michigan at the lake house last month. My uncle bought a bunch of these antique medicine bottles to use as a decoration for his home in St. Louis after seeing the ones displayed in the upstairs bathroom of the lake house. My father, uncle and myself spent part of the day taking pictures of these in various positions. It was a lot of fun. :)

Mr. Hummington.

First day!

Well, I had my first day of shooting for a company today/this evening.  As it stands, it’s not something that I can really make a “living” on… but it was only my first night. I think I did really well, considering I was brand new to this and I was a little confused about where I was supposed to be/when I should be shooting. I’m fairly certain that tomorrow night will prove to be more productive and profitable. I managed to make commission on my first night, albeit a meager .70, lol.

This job is an insane cross between portrait/event photography and high-powered sales. Given, I have nothing to do with the actual sales of the images I take, but I still have to get people to let me take usable photographs of them… this isn’t as easy as one would think. A lot of people are turned off by being sold things… even though it’s free to have the picture taken. One of my affiliate photographers said today when I asked him what the gig was all about, “Have you ever pan-handled?” hah… it’s actually a lot like that. Talking to EVERY single person/group that you see and trying to real them into a photograph and even breaking them up into more shots… I really felt a connection with the people begging for change outside the stadium.

All in all, it was a good experience. If I can raise my commission to the max, I could certainly see this job being a good catch.

Alright… time for some beers and sleep. I’m back at it again tomorrow night, hopefully The Braves will WIN tomorrow night… it was pretty sad this evening.

Cheers!

Off to Turner Field!

So, I picked up a gig taking “fan photos” at Brave’s games. I’ll be at the field tonight, Saturday night and Sunday morning snapping away. If this works out I’ll be doing it for the rest of the season or until something more lucrative comes my way.

Since I’m going to the ballpark tonight, I thought I would make a photo post in the same theme.

This was taken at Comerica Park in Detroit last year. We had pretty decent seats and the game was a lot of fun. The view of the Detroit skyline is pretty awesome from the park.

Anyway… I’m off!

Okay.

I think I’ve done enough to get the ball rolling on this little project. Any seasoned WordPress users that have any feedback, it would be greatly appreciated. :)

I intend on updating this frequently but, realistically, one or two times a week will probably be more like it.

I are excited! :D lol
